Antony Pilkington

Antony Pilkington

Managing Director

Antony advises on various aspects of pension and investment planning, specialising in the efficient creation, protection and distribution of family wealth.He is qualified to Diploma level via the Chartered Insurance Institute and due to his particular interest in estate planning, he has also completed the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ (STEP) Administration of Estates exam.

Antony's career began at a local insurance brokers in Poulton le Fylde in 1981 where he gained a broad understanding of insurance. From here he joined Sun Life as a Broker Consultant, specialising in Capital Transfer Tax and Small Self Administered pension solutions.

In 1987 he left to join a local IFA firm as an Independent Financial Adviser and Director of the company.

An opportunity arose in 1997 to purchase 50% of the shares in Springfield Financial Services Ltd and in 2004 Antony became the sole owner and Managing Director of the company. Antony now runs the business alongside his Co-Directors; Ailsa Thomas and Vanessa Townshend.

Antony has three children. He is a keen time trial cyclist and enjoys Formula 1 and Moto GP.

Director, Chartered Financial Planner

Ailsa advises on a range of areas, including retirement and investment planning and has a particular interest in estate planning and trusts. To this end, Ailsa holds the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ (STEP) Certificate for Financial Services.In March, 2010 she was awarded Chartered Financial Planner status and is now also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

Following completion of her A Levels at Nelson & Colne College, Ailsa began her career in Financial Services in 2000.Working initially in administration whilst she studied towards her professional qualifications, Ailsa went on to assist advisers in a technical capacity as a Paraplanner and later moved on to advising clients.Ailsa, now a shareholding Director of Springfield Financial Services Ltd, joined the company in 2004.Ailsa is married and has two young sons with whom much of her spare time is spent. At weekends Ailsa enjoys walking in the local countryside and meeting up with family and friends.Contact Ailsa
Vanessa Townshend, FPFS

Vanessa Townshend, FPFS

Director, Chartered Financial Planner

Vanessa specialises in providing Retirement and Later Life advice, incorporating retirement planning, pension transfers, investment management and estate planning. Her expertise has been recognised at the Personal Finance Society Adviser Awards in 2016 and 2017 where she has been a ‘Later Life and Retirement Specialist’ finalist.Vanessa has held Chartered Status for more than 10 years, is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, and holds the Society of Later Life Advice (SOLLA) accreditation. She is a pension transfer specialist with expertise in all types of pension rules and regulations, including occupational pension schemes, private pension, final salary pension transfers and pensions on divorce. She has also completed the Foundation Certificate with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ (STEP), which includes Trusts, Wills and administration of estates.

Having graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a degree in International Business Studies with Japanese Vanessa joined a National IFA in 1998 before moving to a London based stockbroker. She relocated to Preston in 2005 and joined Springfield Financial Services where she is now a shareholding Director. Vanessa, her husband and two children enjoy swimming, cycling and running. She competes in Triathlons, cycle Time Trials and open water swimming events, with her biggest accomplishment to date being Bolton Ironman in July 2017. Contact Vanessa

Chartered Financial Planner

Phil provides advice on a wide range of areas including pension and investment planning. He is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, an accreditation held by fewer than 5% of registered financial advisers.In 2014, having taken the decision to look for a new challenge, Phil identified Springfield Financial Services Ltd as a company that would provide the ideal base to focus on advising existing clients and developing new relationships through referral and professional introduction.

Phil started his career in retail banking in the late 1970's. He progressed to holding managerial positions with a major Building Society before moving to Preston to take up a role with Royal & Sun Alliance in 1984.His career progressed with a local financial advisory firm where Phil enjoyed over 20 years working principally in the field of self-administered pension arrangements and corporate and individual investment portfolio management. Phil developed his business by working closely with a network of professional intermediaries, principally Chartered and Certified Accountants in Preston and Manchester. Outside interests include travel, sport (and in particular Rugby Union being a Debenture holder at the Millennium Stadium), martial arts and music.Phil is married with one daughter, two step-children, three grand-children and two Dachshunds.Contact Phil

Financial Planner

Tricia has over ten years’ experience in the financial services industry and she joined the team at Springfield Financial Services back in January 2016. Tricia is qualified to Diploma level via the Chartered Insurance Institute and she is progressing towards Chartered status.

Following a brief career in retail, Tricia joined financial services in 2006. Working initially in administration whilst she studied towards her professional qualifications, she then went on to assist advisers in a technical capacity as a Paraplanner before moving on to an advisory role. Tricia advises on a wide range of areas including savings and investments, retirement options, pensions and estate planning.Tricia has a teenage son, spends a lot of time completing home improvements on her Grade II Weaver’s Cottage, and has recently completed the couch to 5km run challenge!

Our advisers are supported by a number of highly trained paraplanners and administrators who in addition to assisting with day to day correspondence, liaise with clients on behalf of the advisers and prepare research, reports and valuations, enabling us to provide a comprehensive service.
