Huge congratulations to Vanessa Townshend who has been shortlisted for Financial Adviser of the Year at the 2017 Growth Investor Awards!

The awards, which are in their third year, are sponsored by LGBR Capital and recognise innovation and impact in SME investment in the UK, as well as celebrating forward thinking intermediaries who promote alternative investments and tax-advantaged venture capital schemes as part of their investment proposition.

Launched by Intelligent Partnership in 2015, the Growth Investor Awards recognise those that are helping start-up and ‘scale-up’ businesses realise their full potential and power Britain’s economy. As well as celebrating the contribution made by intermediaries through awards such as Financial Adviser of the Year and Wealth Manager of the Year, this year’s expanded awards programme features a total of 16 categories including Growth Champion of the Year, Most Impactful Investment, Best Angel Syndicate and Corporate Investor of the Year.

Vanessa will be competing in the Financial Adviser of the Year category alongside five fellow finalists and the winner will be announced at an exclusive black-tie awards dinner for 450 guests, which will be held on Wednesday 8th November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Jack Rose, Business Development Director for Tax Products of LGBR Capital – sponsor of the Financial Adviser of the Year award – commented: “The quality of advisers active in the alternative investment sector has been demonstrated by the ‘Financial Adviser of the Year’ shortlist for the past two years, so LGBR Capital is therefore delighted to support the Growth Investor Awards campaign for a third consecutive year.”

Guy Tolhurst, Managing Director of Intelligent Partnership said: “We created the Growth Investor Awards because we felt it was time to start celebrating those individuals and companies considered to be ‘best in class’ within the SME investment ecosystem. And we want to honour those that apply their considerable expertise to promote alternative investments and add real value for their clients. So, we are delighted that the role played by Vanessa Townshend has been recognised with this 2017 Growth Investor Awards nomination. I’d like to personally wish Vanessa the very best of luck, and we hope to see you on the winners’ stage in November.”

Commenting on the announcement of the financial adviser and wealth manager finalists, Advisory Board member Tim Hames — Director General of the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) — said: “Many UK businesses have achieved their growth ambitions thanks to injections of tax-advantaged capital such as EIS, SEIS and VCTs. Financial advisers and wealth managers continue to play a crucial role in raising awareness and encouraging take-up of these attractive funding solutions for companies across the whole of Britain.”

Commenting on the award nomination, Vanessa said: “This is a complex area of planning where we have been able to provide valuable advice for a number of clients. I am delighted our expertise in the sector has been recognised and look forward to the awards ceremony in November.

All finalists will now move on to a second round of judging to determine the winner in each award category. An Advisory Board of prominent figures representing different sections of the investment and SME community will be called on to evaluate the strength of each finalist’s entry.

Good luck, Vanessa! All the team at Springfield are incredibly proud of you.
